Club Distance Questions
How many shots do I need to track per club?
We recommend at least 10 shots per club for reliable averages. 20+ shots gives you highly accurate data. Track both practice and on-course shots.
Should I track practice range distances?
Yes, but note they may differ from on-course! Many golfers hit 5-10 yards shorter on course due to pressure and real consequences.
How accurate is GPS distance measurement?
GPS is accurate to within 3-5 yards, which is more than sufficient for building a yardage book. Over multiple shots, averages are very accurate.
What's the difference between carry and total distance?
Carry is where the ball lands. Total is where it stops after rolling. On firm greens, carry matters more. On soft greens, total matters more.
Should I track distances with different ball flights?
Yes! If you can hit a full 7-iron, 3/4 7-iron, and knock-down 7-iron, track all three. More options = better course management.
How often should I update my distances?
Re-check distances every 3-6 months or after equipment changes. Your distances will change as you improve or due to age/fitness.
